New firmware for Dragon Touch Y88 

Please choose the correct firmware according to the date in the barcode on the back of the tablet. The four numbers marked red represent the year and month.For example, HY107B1A314062100415, ' 1406 ' means June 2014.

Guidelines for Dragon Touch Y88 firmware re-installation: 

1. Create a folder ‘Y88’ on your PC. Download the correct firmware into your PC, move it to Y88 folder and extract to the current folder. 

2. Install dotnetfx.exe and vcredist_x86.exe in file of “iuw_2.0.22_beta_20130830” 

3. Open IUW.exe, set the language to be English and keep the IUW window open 

4. Get a TF/SD card of no less than 1G and backup important info. Insert SD/TF card into PC via connector and normalize the card in IUW. Please make sure no other USB device is connected during the process. 

5.Open the file of “Y88-2013-1217-512-4G-hd1219.ius” in IUW. Click “disk”,” select “make burn disk’ 

6. Copy the file ‘preload’ (in Y88 file) to SD/TF card with name of “INFOTMBURN”. (Default name after make disk burn) 

7.Make sure battery power of the tablet is no less than 50%.Turn the tablet off and insert the card in it, then press and hold the power button for 5-10 sec.  LCD screen will light up after 10 sec. 

8.The system will start updating. There will be notice to remind you taking off the TF/SD card when the update is done and tablet will reboot itself.

9.Delete the firmware folder from your TF/SD card in case of wrongly update your device again.

after the tenth number counting from left represent the year and month.

How To Upgrade/Reinstall Firmware On Your Tablet PC (Allwinner CPU - A10, A13)

WARNING: Re-installing system image may be harmful to your tablet if not operated correctly. Please be aware of this fact and proceed with caution. Each model has different system image. Please confirm by the model number(on the back of the tablet), build number (in Settings-> About tablet) and the firmware image in the table at the end of this section.

Before downloading anything, please match your tablet model (on the back of the tablet) with the model number in the following table because tablet with different CPU and model number will need different PC tool and image file.

CAUTION: Allwinner CPU and Rockchip CPU uses different Tool and Driver during system re-installation. Please choose carefully and follow Guidelines according to your tablet's CPU model.

 

 Guidelines for Allwinner A10 A13 CPU firmware re-installation:

 

1. Download the PC re-installation tool (PC Tool) and the correct firmware file (*.IMG) from the links in the above table.

2. Please unzip tool.zip and copy the files to folder C:\ROM reflash\ (if there is not a folder named as this, create it)

3. Please copy firmware image file (*.IMG) C:\ROM reflash\img\

4. Run C:\ROM reflash\PhoenixUSBpro.exe 

5. Click on Key icon. Select key file as C:\ROM reflash\key\AW_Product.key

6. Click on image icon. Select firmware image file under C:\ROM reflash\image\*.IMG

7. Click "Start" button on PhoenixUSBpro.  Status icon on right should turn green.

8.Press and hold volume (-) button while connecting tablet to computer through USB cabel. When connected, press and release power button quickly for 3 times, then relese volume (-) button.

9. Your computer will recognize new hardware. A pop up question will ask you to install driver, or, you can click on the un-recognized USB device icon in the system notification area to install the driver. When installing the driver, select browse for driver, locate driver folder to C:\ROM reflash\UsbDriver\ , check box "include subfolders", click "Continue".

10. Allow the computer to install the driver.

11. After the drive is installed. Software should re-flash ROM automatically. When done, disconnect tablet. Charge for 20mins before powering on tablet.

12. Click on "Stop" before closing PhoenixUSBpro.exe

 Guidelines for Rockchip (RK) CPU firmware re-installation: 

1. Download the PC re-installation tool (PC Tool) and the correct firmware file (*.IMG) from the links in the above table. 

2. Please unzip RK SERIES PCTool.zip and copy the files to folder C:\ROM reflash\ (if there is not a folder named as this, create it) 

3. Please copy firmware image file (*.IMG) C:\ROM reflash\img\

4. Run C:\ROM reflash\RK SERIES PCTool\RKBatchTool.exe

5. The first line is the image file line. Click on browse icon to select the image file. Select C:\ROM reflash\IMG\*.img 

6. Please make sure to have a message saying "Loading firmware Finished" in the dialog box. 

7. Turn your tablet off. (Press and hold power button, when the tablet ask you if you want to turn off tablet, tap "yes") 

8.Press and hold volume ( ) button while connecting tablet to computer through USB cabel. When connected, press and hold power button until the computer recognize new hardware, then release all buttons. NOTE: if you are upgrading R10 model, please press volume(-) instead of volume( ). 

9. A pop up question will ask you to install driver, or, you can click on the un-recognized USB device icon in the system notification area to install the driver. When installing the driver, select browse for driver, locate driver folder to C:\ROM reflash\RK SERIES PCTool\USB DRIVER RK\ , check box "include subfolders", click "Continue". 

10. Allow the computer to install the driver. 

11. After the driver is installed. On the RKBatchTool you should see a green block indicating a active device. Click on "upgrade" button to start re-installing the firmware. 

12. When done, disconnect the tablet and charge for 30 minutes before powering tablet on.

Guidelines for Allwinner A20 CPU firmware re-installation: 

1. Download the PC re-installation tool (PC Tool) and the correct firmware file (*.IMG) from the links in the above table. 

2. Please un-compress the PoenixSuitPacket.zip, put the files in C:\Rom reflash\ , install PhoenixSuitPacket.msi by double clicking the file and follow on screen instructions.

3. Please copy firmware image file (*.IMG) C:\img\ 

4. The software should generate a desktop icon on your desktop. Double click on it to run the software.

5. On the main menu of PhoenixSuit software, click on "firmware", in the pop-up box, select the image file you downloaded from this website. 

6. Turn your tablet off. (Press and hold power button, when the tablet ask you if you want to turn off tablet, tap "yes") 

8. Press and hold volume ( ) button while connecting tablet to computer through USB cabel. When connected, press and hold power button until the computer recognize new hardware, then release all buttons. 

9. Sometimes, a pop up question will ask you to install driver, or, you can click on the un-recognized USB device icon in the system notification area to install the driver. When installing the driver, select browse for driver, locate driver folder to C:\ROM reflash\USB Driver\ , check box "include subfolders", click "Continue". 

10. Allow the computer to install the driver. 

11. After the driver is installed. On PhoenixSuit you should see a green bar showing the status of upgrade. 

12. When done, disconnect the tablet and charge for 30 minutes before powering tablet on.

  

Precautions

A power failure during the firmware writing operation may disable the tablet PC.

* Use a fully charged Battery or dedicated AC Adapter for the firmware update.

* Do not shut off the power during the firmware writing operation.
